Day 1

Arusha/Tarangire

Depart Arusha in private 4x4 safari vehicle to Tarangire National Park which boasts of the biggest elephant population in Tanzania. As you enter the park, your driver guide will open up the roof to begin your game viewing experience. Enjoy lunch at Nimali Tarangire Camp and thereafter afternoon game drive. Nimali is truly a little gem that offers the most perfect place to begin your northern Tanzania safari adventure. It is a very small intimate tented camp nestled under the shade of acacia trees overlooking a pretty dry riverbed bordered by huge and dramatic granite boulders. The camp blends very well into the untouched landscape and staff here ensure very personalized guest service and attention to detail. Nimali Tarangire is set in a private wildlife conservancy bordering Tarangire National Park. The private conservancy is an extension of the Tarangire Park and offers exclusive game viewing far away from the crowds. There is no fence between the private concession and the park, so wild animals wander freely in this area. Nimali is a permanent tented and guest accommodation here comprises of luxury tented suites spaced along the river bank.

Day 2

Tarangire National Park

Whole day in Tarangire National Park and the private conservancy with game drives. From Nimali Tarangire, guests can also enjoy guided nature walks and night game drives to view nocturnal animals such spring hare, leopard, hyena, genets and civets. Tarangire National Park's beautiful landscape is made up of seasonal marshes and seemingly endless savannah with mighty baobab trees. Enjoy extensive game drives and get the best opportunity to view breathtaking scenery and wildlife species found in this magnificent park. During dry months, concentration of wildlife around the Tarangire river is diverse and plentiful. Elephants are the main attraction here with up to 3,000 in the park. During the peak season, good numbers of wildebeest and zebra as well as giraffe, buffalo, Thompson's gazelle, greater and lesser kudu, eland, leopard and cheetah are regularly witnessed during morning and afternoon game drives. Tarangire is a great birdwatching destination boasting of more than 500 different species. Tarangire' s landscape comprising of swamps, seasonal rivers and other habitats offer amazing sites for classic birdwatching experience.

Day 3

Tarangire/Lake Manyara

Early morning game drive in Tarangire which is a lovely park. Breakfast and depart for Lake Manyara National Park for full day game drive with picnic lunch. Lake Manyara is a superb wilderness area with an excellent cultural mix. The park is set between the Rift Valley's western escarpment and the shallow alkaline waters of Lake Manyara. It is perhaps best known for its flamingos, pelicans, cormorants and is home to over 400 other species of birds, making it a bird watcher’s paradise. Mammals in the park include wildebeests, zebras, bushbucks, waterbucks, hippos, giraffes, leopards, lions, baboons and troops of noisy blue monkeys. Overnight at Escarpment Luxury Lodge which is a stylish lodge offering warm Africa hospitality and stunning views of Tanzania’s Lake Manyara. Escarpment Lodge boasts of excellently appointed private chalets with commanding panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. The lodge is set at high elevation providing excellent views of Lake Manyara. Guest activities here include game drives in the park, walking safaris, guided nature walks, cultural tours, bird watching and biking.

Day 4

Lake Manyara/Serengeti

After breakfast depart for Serengeti National Park arriving on time for lunch at Nyumbani Camp which nestled in the heart of untamed area of Central Serengeti. Nyumbani is a contemporary permanent tent comprising only eight tented suites. Each spacious safari tent offers its own indoor sitting area where guests can relax through the day and gaze across the star filled sky at night. In between exhilarating daily activities and safari game drives, custom armchairs and delicious cocktails are served to accompany indulgence in the simple pleasure of observing the vast stillness of the Serengeti plains. In the evening, a campfire springs to life where tales of the day are shared and dinner is served under constellations of brilliant stars. This evening, head out into the bush for an exciting game drive. This offers some level of excitement and character of its own as predators begin their nightly search for prey. Your safari guide will try to bring you as close as possible to the wildlife just when the action is likely to be most exciting. Few predators hunt during the heat of the day, so early morning and evening are the best moments to observe the thrill of the chase.

Day 5

Serengeti National Park

Today enjoy game drives in the Serengeti which is internationally renowned for the greatest wildlife spectacle on the planet, The Great Migration. Located in north west of Tanzania, Serengeti is the ultimate ‘wildlife show’ on earth and best known for its unequalled natural beauty and diverse wildlife. Serengeti supports a magnificent diversity and abundance of animals from the Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and black rhino to giraffe, Grant's gazelle, impala, kongoni, topi and eland. Serengeti’s unique combination of diverse habitats enables it to support more than 30 species of large herbivores and nearly 500 species of birds. Its landscape originally formed by volcanic activity has been sculptured by the concerted action of wind, rain and sun. It now varies from open grass plains in the south, savannah with scattered acacia trees in the centre, hilly, wooded grassland in the north to extensive woodland and black clay plains to the west. Small rivers, lakes and swamps are scattered throughout. Serengeti is famous for its predators that include lion, cheetah and leopard. Other predators such as serval cats, African wild dog, jackals and spotted hyenas are also present.

Day 6

Serengeti/Ngorongoro Crater

Early morning game drive and get the last chance to witness a lion kill in the Serengeti. This is the best time to spot wildlife because temperatures are cool and most animals are still very active including the big cats returning from a night of hunting. After breakfast depart for Ngorongoro Conservation Area. On the way stop at Oldupai Gorge for a brief tour and picnic lunch. Oldupai Gorge (originally misnamed Olduvai Gorge) is the most famous archaeological location in East Africa. Oldupai is an important place in the world for the study of human origins and evolution. It’s here at that that the remains of the earliest human ancestors were found making Africa the “Cradle of Mankind”. After lunch proceed to Ngorongoro Crater arriving Ngorongoro Tortilis Camp late afternoon for your overnight stay. Named after the distinctive Tortilis tree of the Serengeti, Tortilis Camp combines comfort with the sense of wilderness and freedom. Ngorongoro Tortilis is nestled under a forest canopy at the end of a valley surrounded by lush green vegetation. Camp staff here are always very cheerful and enthusiastic and will make your safari experience truly unforgettable.

Day 7

Ngorongoro Crater/Lake Eyasi

Early breakfast make your way to the floor of Ngorongoro Crater for whole day game viewing experience with picnic lunch. Ngorongoro Crater is a World Heritage Site in the Crater Highlands of Tanzania. Here, grass steppes and acacia forests are home to almost all the animal species found in the East African savannah. In only a few hours you will have the chance of spotting all the big five: lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard. After game viewing and lunch, drive to Lake Eyasi arriving late afternoon for dinner and overnight stay at Lake Eyasi Lodge which is set on the shore of Lake Eyasi. Lake Eyasi is a very scenic soda lake found on the southern border of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This less visited lake lies at the base of the Eyasi escarpment on the western wall of the Great Rift Valley. The lodge is set on a gentle slope overlooking the lake and offers stunning views over the seasonal soda lake. Accommodation here is in spacious guest rooms that are tastefully furnished with great attention to detail. The décor blends elements from the surrounding landscape with modern comfort and all have private bathrooms and verandah overlooking the lake.

Day 8

Lake Eyasi/Arusha

This morning you will be introduced to the extraordinary people who belong to an indigenous tribe known as the ‘Hadzabe’ (hunter gatherer bushmen). The tribe inhabits the shores of Lake Eyasi as do the Nilotic speaking Datoga tribe. Visit these two tribes, view to their traditional homesteads, learn about their way daily of life: animal tracking, their medicinal plants, fire making, traditional dance and much more. They live by hunting with bows and arrows and gathering wild berries and fruits. Their way of life has remained unchanged over the millennia and they live in small wandering groups of about twenty individuals. After sumptuous lunch, depart for Arusha arriving late afternoon. You will be dropped at your Arusha Hotel or at Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward departure flight.
