Upon arrival in Rwanda, you will be met at Kigali International Airport by your Safari Guide and assisted with arrival formalities before boarding your 4x4 safari vehicle. Embark on City Tour of Kigali and visit to the Genocide Memorial Museum. After lunch head off to Volcanoes National Park which is home to five of the eight extinct volcanoes that make up the Virunga Mountains where more than one third of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas find refuge. After early breakfast in the resort, your guide will transfer you to Volcanoes National Park Gate for a trekking briefing session. You will be lectured briefly on the ‘Dos’ and ‘Don'ts of gorilla trekking adventure and how you should behave upon sighting the gorillas in the forest. The gorilla trek can last between 30 minutes to several hours depending on the location of mountain gorilla family on that particular day. The hike through the forest is challenging and tough but within reach for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness. It requires navigating uphill and downhill through thick forest. The hiking trails can be slippery when it rains therefore a pair of waterproof hiking boots is required as well as long trousers and shirts. Upon finding the gorillas, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them while observing their behaviour and taking photos. Gorilla trekking experience is unforgettable, magical and life-changing worth every penny despite the cost and some bit of discomfort. Thereafter, head back to the Park Headquarters to collect your certificate before returning to the lodge for lunch. This afternoon enjoy a trip to the nearby villages to meet the local indigenous tribe and learn about their fascinating culture and lifestyle.
