Day 1: Nairobi/Amboseli

Depart Nairobi the “place of cool waters” in the Maasai language by road, arriving Amboseli National Park for lunch at Amboseli Serena Lodge which enjoys a uniquely privileged position at the heart of this world-famous national reserve, providing very clear and uninterrupted views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Later in afternoon, head out for a game drive returning back to the lodge for dinner. Amboseli National Park, the second most popular animal park after Maasai Mara, is 260km (160 miles) from Nairobi, on the border with the neighboring country of Tanzania. Its magnificent situation at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, combined with its excellent opportunities to view Kenya’s animals, make it one of the most-visited safari parks in Kenya.Amboseli is renowned for its large herds of free-ranging African elephants. There are over 900 African elephants in Amboseli, as well as huge herds of wildebeests and many other animals including giraffe, lion, monkey, zebra, hyena and antelope. Amboseli was declared a national reserve in 1968. It became a national park in 1974. Day 2: Amboseli National Reserve

Today enjoy game drives in this magnificent park located at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain. Amboseli comprises of grove of acacia trees and golden savannah plains and close by are a series of emerald green swamps, which are fed by the melting snows of Kilimanjaro providing sources of water to huge numbers of wallowing elephants, hippos, buffalos and plains game. Day 3: Amboseli/Aberdares Mountains

 Drive back towards Nairobi and head to the Aberdares ranges arriving at Aberdare Country Club for lunch. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to The Ark Forest Lodge for overnight game viewing. The Ark is nestled deep in the forests of Aberdares National Park and lies in the path of an ancient elephant migratory route between the Aberdares Mountains and Mount Kenya and is strategically located right in front of a watering hole and salt lick. The forest is home to many wildlife species that include elephant, rhino, warthog, bush pig and giant forest hog. Overnight: The Ark Forest Lodge, Full board

Day 4: Aberdares/Samburu

This morning head north to Samburu Game Reserve located in the Northern Frontier District. Arrive for lunch at Samburu Lodge, located in a rugged landscape, against a backdrop of jagged mountains offering natural scenery of mountains and a meandering river. Later in the afternoon, proceed for an afternoon game drives in the expansive Samburu Game Reserve. Samburu is part of a lava plain that includes a diverse landscape of thorn scrub, red dirt, dried river beds, broken volcanic rock, steep hills, and rocky outcroppings. The region is home to the uncommon Grevy’s zebra with huge fury ears, gerenuk antelope standing on hind legs to feed, Somali ostriches with distinct blue legs and the shy Oryx.  Elephant and crocodile are guaranteed sightings, excellent bird watching with numerous varieties of weaverbirds and the martial eagle. Day 5: Samburu Game Reserve

Whole day in Samburu Game Reserve with game drives. Samburu plays host to large herds of elephants. Other unique wildlife specifies are also very common sightings in this part of the wilderness. The Uaso Nyiro River is a great point of concentration and interest to both visitors and wildlife. It forms the lifeline of this great reserve and most animals cannot keep away from it as they come to quench their thirst from the river. Overnight: Samburu Lodge, Full board

Day 6: Samburu/Great Rift Valley

Early breakfast and drive to the Great Rift Valley arriving for lunch at Lake Nakuru Lodge in Lake Nakuru National Park. Later proceed for an afternoon game drive in this world famous wildlife habitat offering a wide ecological diversity, from lakeshore, woodlands, grassy plains to rocky escarpments and ridges. Day 7: Lake Nakuru/Masai Mara

Leaving the Great Rift Valley behind, you will head out to Masai Mara, which is world famous and Kenya’s premier game reserve, arriving for lunch at Ilkeliani Tented Camp which is nestled in a river glade in an area favourite for elephants coming to drink from the Talek River. After a warm welcome and delightful lunch, embark on a game drive with your driver guide in Maasai Mara the ancestral home to the Masai people. Overnight: Ilkeliani Tented Camp, Full board

Day 8: Masai Mara Game Reserve

Today enjoy game drives in the Mara that will include visit to the Mara River, where thousands of wildebeest and zebra are attacked by crocodiles as they attempt to cross this mighty river during the annual migration between Tanzania and Kenya. The annual migration sees over a million wild animals move from Serengeti National Park in Northern Tanzania to Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya. Overnight: Ilkeliani Tented Camp, Full board

Day 9: Masai Mara/Nairobi

Breakfast and drive back to Nairobi arriving in the afternoon. You will be dropped off either at your Nairobi Hotel or at the airport for your departure flight.
