A whole day excursion from Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National Park enables visitors from different parts of the word to view the spectacular Great Rift Valley and observe the world famous flamingos at Lake Nakuru. Lake Nakuru is the feeding ground of both lesser and greater flamingos and also a sanctuary for both black and white rhinos. Lake Nakuru was declared a national park in 1961 and covers an area of some 180 km² and its diverse habitats are home huge variety of wildlife ranging from warthog, baboonand waterbuck to large herds of impala. Other residents here include buffalo, Rothschild’s giraffe, eland, the occasional leopard and both black and white rhino. A big herd of hippo have their territory in the northern part of the lake.After a mid-morning game drive, enjoy lunch at Sarova Lion Hill Lodge. Thereafter, another game drive to view more wildlife and spectacular landscapes on your way out of the park. Later embark on your return journey back to Nairobi.

Depart Nairobi early morning for a day’s tour of The Great Rift Valley. Make a brief stop at the Great Rift Valley’s view point and get an opportunity to watch the enthralling Rift Valley with its vast vegetation and the sun rays kissing far and wide stretching mountains in the surrounding. The Great Rift Valley is one of the wonders of the world and stretches from the Middle East passing through Africa and ending in Mozambique. Proceed with your journey to Mount Longonot which is an extinct volcano. Mount Longonot has a forest of small trees that covers the crater floor, and small steam vents are found spaced around the walls of the crater. It rises from the floor of the Great Rift Valley like a monolith and one of its unique features is the thick forest that lies within the crater of the mountain. The crater rim provides great scenic views across the beautiful Rift Valley all the way to Lake Naivasha. Major wildlife attractions include buffaloes, elands, lion, leopard, bushbucks, common zebra, giraffe and Grant’s gazelles. Enjoy lunch at Lake Naivasha Country Club before proceeding further to Hells Gate National Park which is named after the intense geothermal activity within its boundaries.

Hell’s Gate National Park is a remarkable quarter of the Great Rift Valley. Spectacular scenery including the towering cliffs, water-gouged gorges, stark rock towers, scrub clad volcanoes and belching plumes of geothermal steam make it one of the most atmospheric parks in Africa. Enjoy mountain biking, rock climbing and natural spa before driving back to Nairobi.

The first part of the tour covers the modern city centre including Parliament buildings,The Supreme Court, City Market, Kenyatta International Conference Centre and The National Museum. After lunch at Carnivore Restaurant, drive towards Ngong Hills to Karen Blixen Museumand Giraffe Centre. Karen Blixen Museum for many years, was the home of the pioneer coffee farmer, Karen Blixen of “Out of Africa” fame. Later proceed to the Giraffe Centre and spend the better part of the afternoon feeding the famous and rare Rothschild Giraffe.
