Wildlife Highlights Trail

Nairobi, Laikipia, Samburu, Aberdares, Rift Valley, Lake Nakuru, Maasai Mara


Day 1: Nairobi/Samburu

Breakfast and head north to Samburu Game Reserve located in the Northern Frontier District. Arrive for lunch at Elephant Bedroom Camp, located in a rugged landscape on the banks of Uaso Nyiro River surrounded by doum palms and other indigenous trees offering great natural scenery.
Later in the afternoon, proceed for an afternoon game drive in the expansive Samburu Game Reserve.

Day 2: Samburu Game Reserve

Whole day spent at Samburu Game Reserve with game drives. Samburu plays host to large herds of elephants. Other unique wildlife specifies are also very common sightings in this part of the wilderness. The Uaso Nyiro River is a great point of concentration and interest to both visitors and wildlife. It forms the lifeline of this great reserve and most animals cannot keep away from it as they come to quench their thirst from the river.

Day 3: Samburu/Laikipia

Breakfast and head off to Laikipia arriving on time for lunch at Serena Sweetwater’s Tented Camp located in OL Pejeta Conservancy. Freshen up and relax in your tent before heading out for an afternoon game drive that will include a visit to both the Chimpanzee and Rhino Sanctuaries. The combination of wildlife and stunning views across the open plains of Ol Pejeta guarantees an unforgettable safari experience. OL Pejeta also provides amazing views of both Aberdares ranges and the splendid snowcapped Mount Kenya.

Day 4: Laikipia/Great Rift Valley

Enjoy fresh cup of coffee or tea before heading out for an early morning game drive in this 90,000 acre wildlife conservancy providing very fascinating game viewing opportunities. Drive into the Great Rift Valley arriving for lunch at Sarova Lion Hill Lodge in Lake Nakuru National Park. Later proceed for an afternoon game drive in this world famous wildlife habitat offering a wide ecological diversity, from lakeshore, woodlands, grassy plains to rocky escarpments and ridges.

Day 5: Lake Nakuru/Maasai Mara

Breakfast and head to Maasai Mara Game Reserve which is Kenya’s best game viewing spot owing to the nature and concentration of wild animals. Arrive for lunch at Sekenani Camp, built at the source of the Sekenani River which rises from a rock pool at the east end of the camp and forms the stream which flows in front of each tent. After a warm welcome and delightful lunch, embark on a game drive with your driver guide in Maasai Mara, the ancestral home to the Maasai people.

Overnight: Sekenani Tented Camp, Full board

Day 6: Maasai Mara Game Reserve

Today enjoy game drives in the Mara that will include visit to the Mara River, where thousands of wildebeest and zebra are attacked by crocodiles as they attempt to cross this mighty river during the annual migration between Tanzania and Kenya. The annual migration sees over a million wild animals move from Serengeti National Park in Northern Tanzania to Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya.

Overnight: Sekenani Tented Camp, Full board

Day 7: Maasai Mara/Nairobi

Breakfast and drive back to Nairobi arriving in the afternoon. You will be dropped off either at your Nairobi Hotel or at the airport for your departure flight.
