Depart Kampala for the most beautiful protected area in Uganda, The Murchison Falls National Park. En route, make brief stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, home to the only wild rhinos in Uganda. The reserve was created to reintroduce rhinos in Uganda which have been extinct since 1982. Accompanied by your guide, track the rhinos and observe them in their natural habitat at a very close and safe distance. Thereafter proceed to Murchison Falls National Park and drive for an hour deeper into the site of Murchison Falls which is one of the most beautiful sights in Uganda. At Murchison Falls, the world’s longest river explodes violently through a narrow cleft in the Rift Valley escarpment to plunge into a pool and becomes a placid river whose banks are thronged with hippos, waterbucks and buffaloes.
Cross River Nile by ferry to Paraa Lodge. Paraa Safari Lodge is located in an elevated position on the northern side of the River Nile, offering guests the most spectacular views of the Rift Valley.
Early breakfast, collect your packed lunch boxes and proceed for whole day game drive in the northern bank of the Nile, with chances of seeing Rothschild Giraffe, elephants, lions, Jackson Hartebeest, Oribis, waterbucks, savannah woodland birds, and possibly the elusive leopard.
Enjoy a boat cruise on the Nile and at the bottom of the waterfalls, climb to the top of the Falls where you will be rewarded with most amazing views of River Nile. Thereafter proceed to Budongo Eco Lodge which is located in the heart of Budongo Forest Reserve in Murchison Falls National Park. for dinner and overnight.
The awesome Murchison falls on the River Nile are worth a visit while you are in Uganda. Here is the awe inspiring Murchison Falls where the River Nile hurls itself in convulsions through a narrow crevice and then plunges 40 metres in one breathtaking leap.Murchison Falls National Park is especially famous for crocodiles and hippos. Breakfast and head south to Fort Portal which rests in the shadow of the fabled mountains of the moon and is famous for beautiful tea plantations. Enjoy picnic lunch and continue on to Kibale Forest National Park arriving late afternoon. Kibale Forest National Park is well known as the “World’s Primate Paradise”. Before dinner, there will be a forest walk in search of the bush babies, pottos and other nocturnal animals. Dinner and overnight at Primate Lodge Kibale which is set right next door to the starting point for Chimpanzee tracking excursions as well as the incredible Chimpanzee Habituation, two of the most breathtaking wildlife experiences on the planet.
Breakfast, transfer to the park gate to meet your Chimpanzee tracking Guide/Ranger. After a pre tracking briefing, drive to the trailhead for the start of an unforgettable adventure, hiking in the footsteps of the big habituated family of chimpanzees. Upon sighting the chimpanzees, stay with them for an hour as they go about their daily life. Afterwards, hike back to the trailhead to re-join your Driver/guide, returning back to the lodge on time for lunch. Later in the afternoon transfer to Bigodi Swamp for a totally different and exciting nature walk. Dinner and Overnight
Primate Lodge Kibale.
Breakfast and drive back towards Fort Portal passing the crater lakes area which comprises of beautiful landscape with small lakes and rolling hills. Continue on to Queen Elizabeth National Park arriving for lunch. Located in the southwest of Uganda, Queen Elizabeth National Park is bounded by Ishasha River and Lake Edward to the west and has a total of over 95 species of mammals making it the most remarkable wildlife safari spot in Uganda. In the afternoon, proceed on a scenic boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a natural and pre-historic canal that joins Lakes Edward and Lake George. On the cruise, enjoy spectacular wildlife sightings of hippopotamus, Nile crocodiles, wallowing buffaloes, thousands of birds many other plains game.
Overnight Mweya Safari Lodge which is set on a peninsula within the national park, providing classic views over the Kazinga Channel.
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is home to over 326 gorillas, accommodating almost a half of the worldâs population of mountain gorillas. A tour to this park enables get up close and personal with the rare species. Queen Elizabeth national park is Ugandaâs most scenic and diverse park. It is also the second biggest national park occupying close to 1,978 square kilometers.Early morning game drive in search of more wildlife species found in this world famous national reserve. Breakfast and depart southwards passing via Ishasha which is famous for tree climbing lions. After a brief game drive, continue on driving through verdant countryside and traditional homesteads to Bwindi National Park, home of the endangered mountain gorillas. Bwindi Impenetrable Rainforest National Park, lies on the edge of the Rift Valley in south-western Uganda. Dinner and overnight at Buhoma Lodge which is an intimate lodge located at the boundary of the forest offering the most amazing views of the thick forest canopy.
Arise early today and prepare for the main highlight of your safari, an unforgettable encounter with the Mountain Gorillas. Breakfast and transfer to the national park offices where you will be allocated to a gorilla family in groups of eight as well as a qualified and experienced gorilla tracking guide. Upon sighting the gorillas, spend about one hour with them as they go about their daily life undisturbed, providing a totally unique and unforgettable experience! Afterwards, you hike back to the base and on to the lodge for a well-deserved shower and lunch. Rest of the afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight
Breakfast and head to Lake Mburo National Park arriving on time for lunch. Lake Mburo National Park is one of Uganda’s smallest national parks coveringabout 260km. Lake Mburo is the largest of the five lakes that lie within the park boundaries, all fed by the Rwizi River. It is the only park in the country that is home to large populations of the impala, after which Kampala is named. Other wildlife to be viewed here include Burchell’s zebras, buffalos, hippos, warthogs, primates, hyenas and antelopes. In the afternoon, proceed on boat ride on the lake to view huge variety of wildlife and thousands of birds. Enjoy early dinner before going on a night game drive in an open Landrover with spotlight. This unique 3 hour game drive provides good chances of seeing the elusive leopard and other nocturnal animals. Overnight at Mihingo Lodge. Mihingo Lodge is an exclusive lodge, located inside the park and features rooms built on wooden platforms providing the most stunning evening sunsets over Lake Mburo National Park.
This morning proceed for a walking safari led by an experienced wildlife ranger. In Uganda, it’s only in Lake Mburo where you can experience a safari on foot. Return the lodge for breakfast and start your journey back to Kampala at the end of your safari. You will be dropped at your hotel in the city or at the airport for your departure flight.
